For my initial ideas I mainly focused on scenes and descriptions from the book. I found the chapter where the girls explore the rock to be one of the more compelling, along with the ending, so this became a main focus in most of the ideas I explored.
I started to think about colour, however I didn’t want it to cloud my judgement of the ideas. I knew that warm, vibrant colours would be most effective at communicating the setting, although I didn’t want to completely ignore the elements of mystery and discomfort so I also considered taking a less literal approach.
